While Renee, the protagonist of The Town of Light, is fictional, the experiences outlined in the game are sourced from this reality, from real life experiences of the mental institution from this time period. Renee’s life is a patchwork of experiences, created by the game’s creative director Luca Dalcó who wrote a book outlining her entire life, from birth until death, using research as a basis for the character. The book was not written to be published, it was more of a personal reference – a way of capturing the essence of the character…
