Safe In Our World’s mixer, Safe Break, returns to Develop:Brighton for its second year!

Safe In Our World will be hosting its second Safe Break mixer at Develop:Brighton to share mental health best practices for the games industry.

Safe Break is back for year two at Develop:Brighton, this time at sunny Sea Lanes. Last year, we welcomed games industry professionals and aspiring devs to our inaugural Safe Break mixer. It was a space for gentle networking and discussions on best practices for self-care at events and conferences.

This year, we’re excited to welcome you back for more discussions around mental health best practices in the games industry. Much has happened in the last 12 months, including the launch of Safe In Our World’s Mental Health Star Accreditation.

Join us on the sunny rooftop terrace of Sea Lanes to talk with us about getting accredited, or becoming a Level Up partner, and accessing free mental health tools, resources, and monthly training opportunities.

Safe In Our World is committed to providing alcohol-free, relaxed mixers that welcome both new and seasoned Develop:Brighton goers. Ease into the hustle and bustle of the event, see familiar faces, make new connections, and take a safe break.

What’s on at Safe Break 2026

Alongside networking opportunities, our annual mixer gives you a chance to self-regulate and check in on your mental health. We’ll have:

  • Discussions around mental health and workplace wellbeing
  • Self-care activity sheets
  • Safe In Our World goodie bags
  • Coffee, pastries, and sandwiches (V, VG available)

The entire Safe In Our World team will be at our Safe Break mixer, making it an ideal opportunity to meet the people behind our charity and learn how we can support you and your workplace.

Getting ready for Develop:Brighton

Last year, we shared 7 event self-care tips for surviving Develop:Brighton. Staying hydrated, making time for breaks – sure, they sound like the basics now, but when you’re in the thick of it, they’re often the first to be forgotten.

When the pressure is on, and we’re all preoccupied with productivity, that stress begins to take a toll on our mental health – but there are things you can do!

Check out the Event Safety Standards Guide, made in collaboration with Take This, for guidance on attending game industry events, staying safe, and accessing local support.

TicketSource is set to a £5 minimum donation, but you are welcome to donate more. All proceeds from ticket sales for this event will go towards Safe In Our World’s mission to support mental health in the games industry and global gaming communities. If you choose to donate more, additional donations can be used to give individuals experiencing financial difficulty the opportunity to attend this event free of charge.
