Help Safe In Our World Reach Four Billion Gamers With Mental Health Support
Posted: 8 Oct 2026Seven years on, it’s time to think bigger. We’re calling on the games industry to help us reach four billion gamers with mental health support and signposting.
Can you believe Safe In Our World is turning seven? For World Mental Health Day (Oct 10), we’re looking back on how far we’ve come as the mental health charity for those who make games and those who play them – and ahead at what we want to achieve next!
Over the last seven years, we’ve provided over $450,000 worth of free mental health training to the global games industry. We’ve established over 400 mental health champions in games, equipped with the tools and knowledge to provide mental health first-aid training and signposting to resources. Our ambassador network has grown to over 200 passionate advocates across 15 countries.
Next steps for Safe In Our World
What’s next, you may wonder? We’re proud of the support Safe In Our World has provided to those who make games. While we’re committed to continuing that mission and expanding our training and resources for the games industry, we also want to turn our attention to gamers.
The global audience for games is forecast to pass four billion by 2029. That’s almost half the world’s population! Meanwhile, 1 in every 7 people in the world experience struggles with their mental health (World Health Organization). Odds are, every gamer knows someone who’s struggling with their mental health, or is that someone.

Video game 30 Days: A Sobriety Simulator features a scannable QR code on a Safe In Our World poster directing players to mental health support.
Our mission to reach Four Billion Gamers
Inspired by the developers and publishers already signposting to Safe In Our World in their games and communities, we’re calling on the global games industry to do the same. With the global estimated audience for games reaching four billion in the coming years, think of the impact your game could have in connecting an individual to lifesaving mental health information, resources, and services.
“We want every player to know there is help and hope, and somewhere they can turn. Four Billion Gamers is an invitation to the industry to help us share that message.” – Sarah, Charity Director
Our ask is simple: Tell your players about Safe In Our World. How you do this is up to you, but we’ve got a few suggestions (and supporting assets and guidance) to help you do this.
Safe In Our World has already received support from developers and publishers, with signposting and charity shout-outs in games such as Pokemon GO, Task Time, Southfield, GYLT, Football Manager, and 30 Days: A Sobriety Simulator to name a few. Add your game to the growing list!

Video game Task Time features Safe In Our World branded character customisation options, allowing players to represent the charity while playing with friends.
