Payment Information if you make a donation on the Website

Where you make a donation to Safe In Our World through our Website*, we use the third party payment partners to process your donation payments on our behalf. Safe In Our World has no access to your card payment information.

How you use our Website (Analytics)

To provide the Website to you

We may use and retain the personal data you provide to us when using the Website, to pursue our legitimate interest of providing our Website to you, such as:

  • providing you with information and updates about Safe In Our World, the Website and the work that we do.

To understand how our Website is used 

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our Website and to compile reports on website activity. We use the information to compile reports and to help us improve the Website.

This processing is necessary for us to pursue our legitimate interest in improving our Website, and to provide you with a more relevant service and information.  This information is not used to develop a personal profile of you.

To process your donations and to claim Gift Aid on your donations

We may use and retain the personal data you provide to us when making a donation to use through the Website to:

  •  claim Gift Aid on your donations; and
  • comply with the Charities (Protection and Social Investment) Act 2016 and follow the recommendations of the charities regulator, the Charity Commission, which require us to identify and verify the identity of donors who make major gifts so we can assess any risks associated with accepting their donations.

If you do not agree to provide certain information to us, or our third party payment providers, then we will not be able to process your donation.

Marketing

We use various forms of marketing to provide you with promotional materials about Safe In Our World, our work, and/or any projects or products that support or raise awareness of mental health within the video game industry.

If you ask to be added to our mailing list, we will keep you updated with our news by email unless you would like to be removed from that list (in which case please let us know by clicking unsubscribe at the bottom of any marketing email that you receive).

In line with the legitimate interest we have in promoting the charity, we will use any email address that you give to us via our Website to provide you with this information.

There may also be circumstances where we will ask you for your explicit consent in respect of our use of your data in which case you will be notified at the time and can withdraw your consent at any time.

Prevention of Harassment, Fraud and other Unacceptable Activity

We may process your information for the legitimate interests of ensuring that use of our Website is in line with our terms of use, is lawful and non-fraudulent, does not disrupt the operation of our Website, does not harass our staff or other individuals, and to enforce our legal rights and comply with our legal obligations, including compliance with anti-money laundering regulations (if and where applicable).

We may obtain sensitive personal data about you if you voluntarily supply it through the Website.  For example, when you communicate with us via the contact page on the Website and/or contact us by email.

We will not pass on any sensitive personal data about you without your consent except in exceptional circumstances.  For example, where we need to report threats made against any third party, or where we have been contacted by children concerning serious issues.

4.1.1  for a copy of data we are processing about you and have inaccuracies corrected;

4.1.2  to ask us to restrict, stop processing or to delete your personal data;

4.1.3  for a machine-readable copy of your personal data, which you can use with another service provider. Where it is technically feasible, you can ask us to send this information directly to another provider if you prefer; and

We keep your information confidential, but may disclose it to our personnel, suppliers or subcontractors insofar as it is reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy. We use third parties to provide hostingservices. However, this is on the basis that they do not make independent use of the information, and have agreed to safeguard this information.

In addition, we may disclose your information to the extent that we are required to do so by law (which may include to government bodies and law enforcement agencies); in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings; and in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention).
