Maura Philippone
Maura Philippone (she/her), M.A., CCC-SLP, is a PhD candidate in the Communicative Sciences and Disorders Department at Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI, USA). As a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist (SLP), her research investigates how SLPs can “level up” their voice/speech practices and pedagogy (e.g., via XR and game-based speech approaches) to enhance learning and treatment outcomes. Her recent work includes CLEARLY!, a serious game designed to help people with Parkinson’s disease strengthen their clear and loud speech skills through interactive gameplay with communication partners. The game, available on itch.io, won a bronze award at the 2024 Serious Play Conference.
